Stoney Stonecipher Birthday Party

Had a good time at Stoney's birthday party today. You don't mention steel guitar in this town without Stoney's name coming up and everyone seems to elude to something they learned from Stoney. There was a dozen or so steel players, some pro singers, and a good band all gathered to honor our hero Stoney. Great musician and super guy!

The violin player was a recovering fiddle player. I think that black push pull was sounding great before I sit down behind it. All I did was manage to get it out of tune. LOL

Fifteen years ago, I had an opprtunity to meet Stoney. He's the guy who got me started on steel guitar and I'm glad he did. I introduced myself to him and told him about how I really wanted to play steel. His response was "Brett, I believe that even though you've got cerebral palsy in your left hand, you can play steel". Here I am now, almost to fourteen years of playing steel, and I still remember what he said
