Rusty Young to PERFORM at ISGC

Post by Jim Cohen »

The following was just posted by Rusty's wife, Mary, on Facebook:

"The ceremony starts at 2pm. Fans on the list can start lining up around 1 or 1:15. Rusty will play two songs!"

This is great. Wish he would play more than 2 songs.

How about some songs he did on Suite Steel? Awesome playing!!

I'm just glad he's gonna play at all. Two songs is more than he plays on steel at most Poco concerts these days, from what I've heard. Also, I imagine he doesn't have a basket full of steel-guitar-instrumentals ready to go. That stuff from Suite Steel would be great but I'll bet he hasn't played any of them in decades (you might say he'd be a little Rusty) ;)

Jim,

1st - I am confused as to why Rusty Young doesn't play more steel on stage.
God, if I could play ANY of the material on Suite Steel, I'd be estactic. It was awesome. And a master on C6 as well.

2nd - I would think Rusty could get those old classic songs PERFECT, in a short while of woodsheding.

3rd - I'm happy for Rusty!! He deserves it. As does Buddy Cage. He's battling cancer (Cage). Would be a crime if he wasn't nominated for SHOF.

Ive seen Rusty several times in the last few years and his steelin is as awesome as ever, The Country Rock band POCO was the pretext to the Eagles and many other bands from that time, Though the band has gone thru a new change of members the sound and music is as awesome as ever. I look forward to seeing one of my Musical heroes inducted and seeing and hearing about his HOF Plaque....He has a huge following of POCONUTS and they regularly sellout a local show in Wildwood MO and other venues around the country.

I do believe Rusty could bring a whole bunch of people to the show who may have never attended and may become converts just as I did way back when we first started doing sound for your Convention.

Congratulations to Rusty on his award!

Well deserved. Poco is one of my favourite bands.
