If you have John Hughy's track of "Take me as I Am" take a listen to the intro to three passing chords to just where the steel comes in. I can single string them but cant find the chords. Any help appreciated, also there are other places in the song where similar chords are used but don't appear to be the same. Again, thanks for any help.

Hey Ray...great tune from one of my favorites. I THINK where you're talking about in the intro the chord structure goes from D to D Dim to Em to A7 and then A7 aug (half pedal string 5 at 5th fret so it raises from E up to F)
It should look something like this..
D: 5th fret with A and B pedals down (strings 8,6,5)
D Dim: slide down to 4th fret releasing A and B and adding whatever knee raises your 8th string (strings 8,6,5)
Em: 3rd fret with just A pedal (strings 8,6,5 then single strings 2 and 4)
A7: 5th fret (strings 9,6,5)
A7 aug: 5th fret (strings 9,6,5 but add 1/2 A pedal)
the verse then starts back on a D chord
