My wife returned from shopping and said that she did NOT manage to get a birthday gift for me (July 14). I told her that there was nothing that I needed and then upon reflection, there is one thing that I want...........I want Bobbe's return to Steel Guitar Nashville on a regular basis. I miss my semi-annual visits there to sit and talk about the 'good ole' road days from Faron to Stonewall to Little Joe Carson, (not to mention Mitchell Torok), listen to Bobbe play, and just watch who wanders into the store. (I met Howard White, Doug Jernigan, Lynn Owsley, Fred Newell, and Mike Cass that way).
My steel guitar purchases have dwindled to near zero without his expert counsel. Most of what I own I bought from him....one is the 2007 Jackson D10 built by Harry and David that bears his name.
So Bobb-ster......in 2 days (on the 14th) I once again become a year older than you. How much I would like to wander into the store this coming December to wish you a happy birthday and have you once again catch up to me.
I have not known you for a lot of years, but in another way, I have known you all of my life.
Hurry up and get well. We (the steel guitar community) all need your return to our lives.
Best regards to you and Pebe from Fancy, Dexter, Autumn, Rodney, and Samantha (our newest rescue), Carol, and me.
As the late GREAT Bobby Caldwell used to say at the end of his steel guitar forum posts............Love you Pal
