received via email from Chuck Campbell: quote: Thank you Bob Lee for the steel forum and for sitting in with the Campbell Brothers. It is true that I and many of the sacred steel players read the forum all the time. I personally love the encouragement and critiques of my playing both positive and negative. I was recently on tour with my personal steel idol Calvin Cooke. He told me, Darick and I were getting smoother and better. This tells me we’re continuing to grow, but there is still room for improvement. Thanks to all the steelers that come up on stage after the show and share their experiences and critiques at the shows. Again, thank you for the support. My only regret is that I just don’t have time to post. Due to my day job, family, church, and touring; I hope I will have more time to post in the future.
I would like to personally invite as many steelers as possible to come to Port Townsend, Washington, for the Slide week long workshop. WHO’S HERE:
Bottleneck Guitar
Mike Dowling (Dubois, Wyoming)
Dobro
Sally Van Meter (Lyons, Colorado)
Orville Johnson (Seattle, Washington)
Pedal Steel and Lap Slide
Bobby Black (Milpitas, California)
Pedal Steel
Chuck Campbell (Rochester, NY)
Dan Tyack (Seattle, Washington)
Lap Slide
Darick Campbell (Rochester, NY)
Freddie Roulette (Berkeley, CA)
Tom Baker of SIERRA STEEL GUITARS, a serious sponsor of this workshop, will be here all week, mostly in room #12 in 204. He’ll have several lap- and pedal steels on hand for you to try, and he’ll be giving technical sessions throughout the week as needed. Check out his trouble-shooting session on Monday night in 204. If you’d like Tom to lead any other sessions, let him know and he’ll post a card on “the Board.”
This is one time I will have time to share the sacred steel style with you for almost a whole week. I will show sacred steel licks in different tunings including E9th & C6th. There is also guaranteed jamming during the week.
Thanks and Blessing to all
Chuck Campbell of the Campbell Brothers.

Phil.
I went and am still buzzing from it.
I had an extraordinary time aand I know other participants and teachers that felt similarly.
I will write a post about the experience soon.
Phil, did we meet?
Good luck in finding a Reverend Roulette National guitar.
