String Effects

Back when Jeff Newman (bless his soul) was on the road giving seminars in the 70's, one of the things he taught was the use of a fuzz box with the steel to fake the sound of a string section. As I recall, he used mostly low pitch two or three-string grips with almost no attack. He would pick the notes and then advance the VP to get a string-like sound, like bowing the strings. He said to use it sparingly to get the best effect.
