Talk to Al Brisco at http://www.steelguitarcanada.com, he doesn't make them but he handles Carter now and is a great fella that may point you in the right direction.

John, John and Anne were very secretive about their vendors. I do know that as great as Carter steels are, the cases left a lot to be desired. I have really had to reinforce mine with many metal angle straps. |

Their more deluxe wheeled roadcases were built by Grundorf ! Maybe they built the standard ones as well ? _________________ 14'Zumsteel Hybrid D10 9+9

Mine was in a Thomas case, not sure if it was original though. |

My case is 14 years old and structurally real sound. Only problems have been that the screws that hold the corners on get pressure put on them when the case is laying in the back of my truck and expanded the holes so the screws are lose in the hole. That and one dime sized missing piece of the covering are all that I have had trouble with, and My Carter is a well traveled guitar. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . Playing for 55 years and still counting. |

The Carter Uni I got was used...the guy got it in 2000, and I got it off him in 2003, he'd never played it, as he'd never played a steel before and to order a Uni was too much for him,and it just sat in his garage....waiting for me . I added wheels to one end and a Spring handle on the other end to help get it out of the car. The case is really built like a tank and quite solid, much more so than the Case I got with my Sho-bud S-12 in 1977. Perhaps Carter's went to a a different manufacturer in later years? I guess Al would know??

Bill, I'm surprised yours didn't last well.I've had four Carter D10s(99,02,03,05) all had similar ozite covered cases with black hardware..All stayed in good shape, though as Rich commented the screws need periodic tightening...The ozite seemed to be applied better on the earlier cases...I'm building a case for the body of my 93 Legrande and wanted to buy that hardware and particularly the piano hinge that stops at 180°…JS |

Me again...just a thought ..... because mine is a single 12 universal, it's quite a narrow guitar, it's not the wide body version, so the overall "mass" might appear to be more stable. I got the Carter in 2003, and it's had some real good use, and nothing seems loose on the case. That was just my thought on the matter

John, I am almost certain the Carter cases were built by Unitec. You can look their website up. Their phone number is (330) 489-6500. I am a dealer for the original equipment Carter Starter cases and that is where I buy them. They built the Starter cases for Carter and I would think all Carter cases were built by Unitec. They also build for some other currently in business steel builders.
