Contest! Name My New CD!
Posted: 6 Jul 2006 2:38 pm
by Jim Cohen
Oh, boy, I'm sure I'm asking for trubble on this one, but you know how much I like contests.
I'm finishing up my new CD of (almost) all classic rock tunes that I grew up listening to and have carried around in my bones since I was about 15 years old. I love reinterpreting this stuff for steel guitar.
But I still need a good TITLE for the new CD! That's where YOU come in. My brain is fried from too many late nights in the studio and I need suggestions for a CD title. If I pick your suggested title (and,
No, it will not be
"at random"), I'll give you a free copy of the CD when it comes out (hopefully in time for ISGC/St. Louis). Oh... I'm also not guaranteeing that I'll pick
any of the suggested titles (hey, I gotta protect myself somehow, y'know...) but let's see what y'all can come up with.
Post away, Dream Babies... Oh, and remember, this is a
Family Forum.
The tunes include:

Time of the Season
Walk Away Renee
As Tears Go By
I Only Want to Be With You
I Started a Joke
Bus Stop
Whiter Shade of Pale
I Will Always Love You
Epitaph
Edited to say that I will give free CDs to the people who submit the 1st and 2nd runner up names (and there are already some goood ones!). All decisions by the Judge (that would be
moi) are final and unassailable (and anyone who says different is itching for a fight and should start their own contest.)

"The Musical Stylings of Jim Cohen Playing Classic Rock"...Jim;This is not only cheesy, its down right wrong. You may love it.
"Jim Cohen's Philadelphia Freedom"...Jim; sure, it's a rip off of Elton John but that makes it cool especially since you are in Phily!
"Jim Cohen's Greatest Hits Volume 10"
Jim; you'll hve them looking for the other 9 volumes!
Okay, one more...
"Jim Cohen STEEL'S Classic Rock"...Jim; This is my personal favorite...lots of cheese here...
Best of luck on your quest of finding a good CD Title. It's a lot like naming a band...everything starts to sound kinda funny after a while.

- Timeless (are they all played rubato?)
- Time Capsule
- Rockeology
- Radio (CD cover: Jim with vintage transistor radio or surrounded by 50 vintage radios)
- Radiology or Radio-ology
- Turn It Up!
- Turn It Up, Man!
- Bar Hopping
- 60s Mix (CD cover: hi-ball glass, etc. and liquer bottles on a bar with labels that have the song names on them)
- The Cohen Brothers minus one
- Bus Stop (the CD cover becomes obvious)
- Epitaph (the CD cover becomes obvious yet creepy)
- NOTHING with steelin', steels, etc. Much too overused and trite.
