I'm just getting back into steel guitar after being away for about 15 yrs. (crazy, I know as I've enjoyed a break from all that tuning and heavy lifting ) I used to play a Sho-bud S10 E9 3+2 (barely I might add)
and I've bought a gently used Fessenden extended E9 12 string guitar which should be here in a day or two...
I'm looking for a standard Emmons setup tuning chart for this (including the tempered offsets as well as string gauges)...I know there are probably many "standards" but I think the new guitar is set up pretty much the most common way...
Now to figure out what I'm going to do with those extra strings....

Edit: I just noticed on an old chart I found in an MSA book that the S12 E9th setup is exactly the same as a 10 string E9 with the added G# and E strings....just wondering why there's no pedal or lever changing these strings like the other G# and E?...because they're too heavy?

Thanks for the chart...Boy, every chart I come across uses different guages for the strings....If I buy a set that has unusual gauges, will I have to tweak my tuning for the pulls etc? I'd imagine I would have to?

There are charts that recommend certain gauges for any pitch...If you don't find one, I'll get one out of my library and send it tomorrow. Several string makers/sellers will put together your desired gauges... Larry

I use a standard Geo-L 10 string E9th set and add a .045 for 11th G# and a .054 for 12th E.
Not sure about the age of the MSA chart you have, but I do raise the 11th G# to A along with 3&6 on B pedal and I lower 12th E - C# on my LKL along with 4&8 E-F change.

Wow...I'm not even sure what gauges are on there now and the previous owner doesn't know either so I bought a micrometer and will measure (I'm so lazy that I don't want to re-tune everything for new strings) so I can order the same gauges...
Every chart I've come across is different...
