Hey guys, got a dobro recently and all I'm missing is a strap. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I use a regular guitar strap with the Planet Waves Quick Release. A good 3" strap for me is real comfortable. Here is a link. . .

Thanks Nick,

In his Homespun video Rob Ickes has a quick-release strap but I have no idea what brand it is.

Beard Guitars has a sister company called Webb Straps. OF course, since this is my name ( no relation) I am partial, but I have two of the their straps and am very please with them. They are regular reso straps made to put your right arm under the strap, and they too have a quick release on the head end. I have a fabric one and a leather one and paid $50 and $60 respectively for them. No, they aren't as nice as the handmade models, but still attractive, comfortable and functional and they fit my pocketbook a lot better.

Rob Ickes historically uses Webb dobro straps.

Sure, there's more than one way to skin a cat, but why not just get an actual dobro strap instead of adapting a standard guitar strap?

For more information, do a "search" Alex, we've had multiple dobro strap threads here in the past couple years.

I've got Longhollow Leathers straps on both my reso's. I like 'em. Also got straplocks on the other end.

As in several similar threads, I hesitate to mention the $200+ Bobby Poff straps except for the fact I wish I'd gotten one much sooner. Absolutely rock solid standing reso stability, super quality.

I may break down and get one for my 8-string, Mark. But the Longhollow strap on my Guernsey stays! I got it from a mutual friend of ours. Mr. Green

I don't recall if Bobby was even making them 10 years ago.

I got mine in 2007. If I can figure out how to post photos here I can put some up later.

because i can never afford anything nice i always end up making something to work. my current dobro strap is a curved ladies belt that i extended with scraps. my main thought on how to get a good strap is go to an upholstery shop and find their dumpster out back. lots of times there will be scraps and remnants, and with luck you may find a nice heavy strap of nice leather that can be crafted into a dobro strap with a little effort.

The Bobby Poff strap: that's what's up. (cryptic Sergio Romo reference).
