Is that the right term for that little U-shaped spring that holds the bell crank on the pull rod? Does anybody have a source for these?

You should be able to find them at a hardware store Dan. They are a pretty standard size (don't know it right off hand). Beleive the correct term for them are C clips.

Dan,

What I think you're looking for is just a standard external retaining ring, or "snap ring" for a 1/4" shaft size.

Here is a link: http://www.mcmaster.com/#external-retaining-rings/=m9ju18

You can probably find some at any good hardwars store like ACE. You'll also need a small pair of snap ring pliers with a 90 deg. end.

True. The hard part is that a good quality version of that tool starts at around $25-30 and goes up from there. Don't skimp on this particular tool is my suggestion if you need to do more than just a few.

E-clips and C-clips are different!

E-clip

C-clip

E-clips can be removed with many tools, but C-clips normally require special "snap ring" pliers. (I prefer the e-clips because of that fact.)

I get retainer rings at Ace Hardware. Pretty expensive if you need a bunch though. They also have the E-clips for the LeGrande guitar. If you look around you'll see a lot of Emmons parts there. Ace is the place!

I have both of them.
I don't have the E cliips listed on the website but here's the link for the retainer clips
http://www.psgparts.com/Clip-Snap-Ring-1-4-HDW-SNRG-2500-0250.htm

I have more than 5 packs in stock and I'll sell the E clips for the same price.

Let me know and I'll get them packaged and on the site.

Clem Schmitz sell a special tool that he designed for those clips on eBay at a fairly reasonable price.

The tool Clem sells is terrific for "E" clips. I have used the same one for about 5 years. He still sells them for $20.00. It will not work on he "C" clips used on push pull and 4 hole bellcrank LeGrandes. I have been searching for a really good snapring tool for the "C" clips for a couple of years, have bought several and none were good. I have one from NAPA about 10 years old that is worn out but I have been unable to find another like it. Herb, can you tell me where to purchase a really good "C" clip tool?

Dan, if you need 5 or so of the "C" clips I can send them to you if you are having problem finding them locally. Just email or PM me your address.

I got mine at Wholesale Tools, though you can Google "snap ring pliers" and come up with any number of options. Sears carries them, Northern Tool Supply carries them, lots of options.

I've heard them called "Jesus" clips cause that's what you say when you accidently tidily wink one into oblivion never to be found again.

Hey, thank you all so much for the responses. I tried to take a picture of what I'm talking about. You can sort of make it out in the back. Looks like it's a C-clip as Lynn said.

I wish I could just go to Harry's Ace hardware but I'm way out in the country in France right now. Jerry, I am sending you an e-mail.

Thanks again, guys!

Dan, you got me all confused. I didn't notice you were from Louisiana. I thought you were a French guy. You already know about the good old USA. Are you transplanted or will you be returning? Don't matter, just nosey I guess. I have the clips ready to mail today. Update: They were mailed Thursday.
