For any of you interested in the true sounds of olde Hawaiian steel guitar.....

You might want to give a listen to Jerry's Music page on the Jerry Byrd Fan Club site. The song is "Sound of the Islands" and possibly vocalized by the popular Japanese singer named "Okada"?

Great steel guitar solo with a lot of really fine 'back-up' that some of you have been inquiring about. Jerry has always encouraged the newer players to play from the heart and not from printed
'hot licks' or 'back-up' books.

Jerry's back-up has always been a fascination to me and I studied it MORE THAN his actual solo's. Much of his back-up could be an actual melody for a song.
You might be interested how great it really is.

Song composed by Nancy and Vic Rittenband. Vocal is by Hawaiian musician, Myra English--Jerry worked with her more than a few times. C'mon Ray, you should know this!!! Wink

Many thanks to you JEFF..........
I was hoping you'd chime in on this one.

I rec'd so many cassette tapes over the years from well meaning friends and sadly, the vast majority have no accompanying notes or index as to whom is doing what.

Again, your contribution is very much appreciated.

Will always remember your kindness during Sally and my one and only trip to Oahu. You're a fine young man and a great talent as well.
