Anyone have any experience using a VF160 digital recording system? I obtained one about a year ago and just recorded a gig directly thru my PA system. This weekend I broke the code on transferring files directly to the built in IDE CD burner/player. It took me awhile as I was concerned about erasing the data and losing the set, but I got one 40 min CD and it turned out ok for not having a sound man to balance while we played. Since all the instruments were acoustic, they were all mic'd along with the vocals. For an older system, this seems to have a lot of bells and whistles.

I use the Fostex F-160EX. I think that it is the same machine with built in effects. I have had great results with it. I use it to make multi-track recordings in which I play all of the instruments and do vocals. They are a bit confusing until you understand the procedure to change parameters and settings.
The Fostex website is a great resource for free manuals. You can probably download the original manual from their site.
I have used it to record live and it works well.

I had one and used it when I first started my home recording studio. It worked well for a standalone recorder.

I moved on to computer based (Sonar) and sold the Fostex VF160.
