Spokane Washington Steel Guitar Jamboree

The Northwest Steel Guitar Association is having its steel jamboree on May 20 and 21 2006 at the Mirabeau Park Hotel at Interstate 90 and the Sullivan exit in the Spokane Valley. Special room rates are $72 and $82. Call hotel at 924-9000 or

Special guest will be JD Maness in concert and teaching a seminar on his approach to playing the steel. JD will also be teaching an Emmons push pull informational class. Recieved a question about headphones, so though I would clear that up a little.
The headphones are for use so you can hear yourself pick your steel. Not that a steel is necessary, but it seems most guys want to try out the movements that JayDee is showing. You can't have each individual playing thru an amp, makes way to much noise in the room with all the guys playing something different at the same time..))) So need to have something to use like headphones that connect to your amp or powered headphones. Jim

I dont think the Lee is playing anywhere but I am playing from 6pm to 8pm on a boat cruise on Lake Coeur d' Alene. I will then he back at the hotel setting up. I think that there will be some jamming going on with Jim Baron and band in a box on that

Russ Rask and the Black Hills Gold Band will be playing the Spokane Valley Eagles which is very close to the hotel from 8pm to midnight. Russ plays lead guitar and steel in that band. Duane Becker

We are adding Friday night May 19 to our Spokane Jamboree. From 6:30pm to 10pm Jim Baron will conduct an informal Band in the box question/answer plus some jamming too. This will be in Meeting Room #186 at the Mirabeau Park Hotel. Duane Becker

Don't forget we're going to open room #186 around 6pm Friday, do some BIAB and maybe a little pickin. Good chance to get our gear set up for the next day, esp if your in Duane's morning class or JayDee's afternoon class. Jim
