I still have almost 600 Curly Chalker DVDs in my garage

Post by Mike Perlowin »

Since I have finally recouped the cost of producing the DVD, I'm reducing the price to $15 for one, and $10 each of you buy 2 or more.

Curly Chalker was one of the greatest steel guitarists of all time. This DVD of his 2 1986 concerts is 2 hours of non stop playing. There are no singers. Just Curly, trading off with guitarists Bobby Caldwell, along with Russ Wever and Jimmy Queen on bass and drums, on part one, and the amazing Johnny Davis, with Jim Bob Sedgwick on bass and and drummer John Mauceri on parts two and three.

I am not on the business of making DVDs. I made this one because I felt that this footage of Curly is too precious to be lost, and it would have been if I had not preserved it. I believe that this DVD belongs on the collection of everybody who is serious about the pedal steel guitar.

Please E-mail me if you want a copy.

And thanks for making sure this footage is available and perpetuated. I'm really glad to have this in my collection. Any Chalker or... steel! fans need to have this. Thanks, Mike.

Hi Jerry. I wish I could come to the Dallas show, but unfortunately between the plane fare from Los Angeles to Dallas, and the hotel and other expenses, it costs between $1,500 and $2,000 and I can't afford it.

Chalker DVD

Post by james king »

I am enjoying Curly's DVD and especially watching Bobby Caldwell's joy watching Curly. My wife and I miss Bobby a lot. This is why we need DVDs like this one to refresh our memories. I guess Curly Chalker was one of the great we never got to see in person.

Arch, I could be wrong, but I believe all DVDs are. (Unlike videotapes.)

With Movies, the USA is Region one and Europe Region two. Just a way of making more money. If your's are Region one I won't be able to watch them.

Archie, I honestly don't know the answer. But there's one way to find out. If you E-mail me your mailing address, I'll send you one. If it works, you can pay me. If not, please return it.

BTW, at least one E-mail sent to me via the forum was sent to my spam box. I caught that one before I emptied out the box, but apparently there were my one or 2 others that I missed. So please e-mail me directly. My E-mail is Mperlowin@sbcglobal.net

Just watching this DVD the other day, I needed a recharge of my Curly batteries.

This is wonderful music. Every steel player needs a copy of this incredible document.
My rig: Infinity and Telonics.

Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg?

That DVD

Great Document, cheap at
twice the price!

Buy four, give away three!

Mix is a bit much, but the
playing more than compensates!

Maybe Bobbe and Cooper could stock
these...

Get it!

Mike,

The Chalker DVD finally arrived, after it's sea voyage and the antics by the freight forwarder in LA. Thanks for the extra effort to get this to me - what an amazing player, with a style so unlike any other player I know. This steeler does not deserve to be brushed aside by the passage of time!

If you have not seen/heard this by all means check it out. There is a dearth of material there of Curly unleashed. Here are 2 hours, 21 minutes of him playing at the peak of his game.

Doug
