Back in the days when the Steel Guitar identified the singer there was one lick that really caught my ear and it came from Lefty Frizell's Steelman. I was knew the artist when I heard that familiar sweep of the steel bar.
In my MP3 clip I use that lick and it really sets up the song.
Question: Who invented or first played this lick with/for Lefty?? Curious minds wish to know??

Curly Chalker played the lick on the Frizzell cut, and it was the intro to Joaquin Murphey's signature tune "Steel Guitar Jubilee." I personally think Curly copped the lick from Murph. _________________ My rig: Infinity and Telonics.
Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg? |
