Well Linda and I got home about 8:30 last night, after an 11 hour drive pulling our sound trailer.

It was a super weekend. Being our first trip, we were not real sure what to expect at a gospel show. But we soon found out. GREAT steel playing for Jesus.

Doug & Stevie made us feel right at home.

It was a pleasure handling the sound for this great show. We hope to be back next year.

I was not going to play, but my friend John Hughey backed out. Just teasing, he got sick on Friday and had to cancel. I talked to Jean Hughey on Saturday morning and told her I would cover for John if she would just fax me his song list. She got quite a charge from that one.

Anyway I borrowed a guitar, volume pedal & seat and hit the stage. With such a great backup band, it was easy.

Great fun and fellowship for all was had. If you have not been to the gospel show, you are really missing out.

Bill Ferguson

Bill just like I told you at the show - your tone was killer!! No efx, right into the Nashville 112, AND playing on a Rains you have never played on before - it just sounded great!! I was very impressed, a great time was had by all.

Barbara and I just got home from Indy a couple of hours ago. What a great show...all of the players were "super" and each one had his own special "gift" to everyone in attendance. Speaking of "gifts", Bill Ferguson was asked to play a set because John Hughey was unable to be at the show and what a set Bill performed. A borrowed guitar, a hurried up play list but the touch of a master. Kudo's to by buddy for a great job. Not only is he a great sound person he's a super musician. We had a wonderful weekend visiting with all our our friends from that part of the country, plus a bonus of two of our close friends all the way from Vero Beach, Fl. Doc and Pat Stewart.
All in all, Doug and Stevie Rolfe put on a first class show and Barbara and I are proud to asked to be a small part of this wonderful show.
Hope to see all of you that missed the show this year at next year's show.

Boy!!! it sounds like you all had a great time up there. I'm sorry that John wasen't feeling well but I'm also glad you got to play Bill. You are a great player but most of all you are a great guy.

It was definately a good show, this was our first show ever, and being a 6 month old steel player, I watch intentely for ideas and ect... and was amazed at all the differences in style and such. Each player was unique in there own way. Anyhow we had a wonderful time and the Lord willing will be back next year, who knows maybe some day I'll be good enough to sit in too.? That is my goal and passion is to play for the Lord. Thanks guys and keep up the good work.

I enjoyed my part of the Gospel show on Friday night and invited Margie Mays to join in on the fun. She played so good that Leonard T Zinn invited her to also play on his set. We left for St. Louis early on Saturday morning and it was a good thing because before we got to St. Louis I joined John Hughey with a touch of the flu. It put me down until Tuesday.

Thanks to Roy Rosetta for being there. He is a life saver for me (and Rob Parker) every time we are on stage together. Thanks to Bill Ferguson for a fine sound system. A fun time was had by all....Scotty

Hi friends, I just got home last night (Mon.) about dark, long trip but I had such a great time. Some of my family came down from the Twin Lakes area and had a good visit.
Thanks to the great back up band, you were super, Bill Ferguson, you done a great job on both sound and that borrowed RAINS.
A special thanks to Doug and Stevie for having me play at the Gospel Show.
Thanks to everyone who helped me at my booth and bought something so I could get back home (he he).
I hope to get invited back again in the future and would recommend anyone to attend this show if you can. God Bless.

Rains Steel Guitars

It was a fantastic show. Don't know what Doug and Stevee, along with the staff, could have done to improve the show. Bill, I really loved your set. Great playing and selections. Roy, you were superb and get better every year. Jerry and Austin really ripped it up. DeWitt, as always a wonderful job on the "fry Pan". However, I'm not sure what to do with Fred. He plays great and has fun too. That is not right. I must say I really enjoyed Cliff Waterman. His execution, sound and interpretation are second to none. All in all, this was one of the best and I am already planning on next year. Thanks to all. We had a great time.

My favorite set of the whole show was Tim Patterson. He had a band made up mostly of family members. His daughter has a beautifully powerful voice! The music was so soulful and good. I felt like I had gone to a black church! They had the Robinson Family keyboard player join them (I think he has also produced their albums)and boy can he play! I thouroughly enjoyed listening to their set from start to finish.

What a great show! Bill, thanks for providing us with a great sound system. The back up band is incredible and what can be said about Roy Rosetta and Chuck Spires that would compliment their playing? I don't think I have the vocabulary to state the greatness of their playing. Thank you! Wayne, (Jericho), thanks, your the best. Thanks to Doug and Stevie, we all love you!!

Thanks Scotty, Cliff and Chrissy for the wonderful compliment. When my friends tell me that I've done a good job it really humbles me and I am reminded that The Lord gave us this talent and we do what we do for the love of The Lord which makes it all worth while.
Cliff and Scotty are a "gift" to the steel guitar community both being super players and my piano playing friend, Chrissy, is a super keyboard player with just "one" pedal and eighty eight "finger levers.
Chrissy I don't know how I missed you and I apologize for that. I'm really sorry I didn't have the opportunity to talk with you, heck, we could have talked "piano"... Wow...at a steel show. Hopefully next time.
