last jan i bought a new computer with win 7 last friday i had been using the computer for an hour or so with no problems i left to do something when i came back the screensaver was running and as soon as i touch the mouse the screen went black, after being on the ph with tech support about 3 hours they sent me 4 disc's by fed ex.
the disc reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled win 7.
i had posted on this section that i could not get adobe flash player to work, but as soon as i reinstalled win 7 it was a breeze to get it to work ..anyone have any idea what happened ? cause tech support had no idea what happened

I'd be very leary about your hard drive... Windows diagnostics are terrible in detecting drive faults. If you have a bad drive, pray it fails while under warranty... I'd also be cautious about saving anything on that drive until it's been determined to be good.

New Computer? Did you buy it in Jan 2013 or Jan 2012? With Win 7 I suspect it was a Jan 2012, as almost all new Jan 2013 computers come with Windows 8. If this is the case, its a 1 year old computer and not a new computer.

Its hard to tell what happened since they sent you discs and you did a complete reinstall. I do a lot of computer support and trying to troubleshoot after its been completely restored and working is next to impossible. We can speculate until the cows come home but no one will be able to tell you what happened or if it will happen again.

i bought the computer new on jan 5th of 2013
i didn't want win 8 so i looked for one that had win 7 on it.
it was still in the original unopened box
the computer seems to be working better since the reinstall and i do have a 2 year warrenty
and i am backing up everything ..i learned my lesson !!!!

Check the post Computer locking up. Andy Sandoval is having the same problem. My browsers would not respond. I did a clean install, updated all of my drivers, and disabled all of the HP proprietary software. I searched and searched and found no solutions, and MS and Mozilla were of no help at all.
Sounds like a clean install and updating everything is the answer. Glad it worked for you.
