Thought I would start a new thread on this subject as it has come up on several other threads. I am using a stereo to monaural adapter with the input going to the monaural side and two outputs going to the two Roland amps. I currently have one amp on the Blackface setting and the other amp on the DeLuxe setting. I am enjoying full sounding lows and mellow highs. Of course, you have to tweak your eq to taste. I am also using the same delay and reverb settings on both amps.

I recorded a new song today (I have been playing for 8 months), so recorded it so you could get an idea of what a live recording using this setup sounds like.

Pete let me be the first to compliment you on your playing. Your playing exceeds the time you have spent at the steel guitar.

Second, the sound of the amps was very clean and transparent to the fact that you were playing thru two amps with two different settings.

How did you mic the amps for the recording? Or was it direct into your recording device?

As a user of the Cube 80XL I am pleased to hear there potential when doubled up. I may need to look for another one.

Chuck

Chuck, it was an open air recording with Band In A Box in the background through a Keyboard Amp and Powered Speaker.

Thanks for the compliments on my playing, I have been working at it quite hard as you never know how much time you have left after you get retired!

I thought I would take some photos and post my setup as it may be useful for someone else. I can tell you that I am totally satisfied with the two amp approach and this setup works with no noise and no problems. Look at the labels in the photo to see how the approx 1.5"x3" plastic box is wired on the inside.

I should also point out that I am using two strips of non-slip shelf liner between the two amps so it doesn't move. You can see it hanging out between the two amps in the bottom most picture.

A question for PETE...can a 1/4 splitter be used at the pedal to achieve the same effect you commented on, or will I need to build a project box like you pictured. I have modded my pedals for a tuner out option and therefore must use an alternative solution.

Hi Chuck, I'm not Pete but I think I can answer your question. Yes you can use a short "Y" cord. Male 1/4 jack into the out of your pedal, and regular guitar cords from the female of the Y to each amp. Or, many volume pedals now have two outs and you can go direct to each amp. I have used both methods with my amps. Hope this helps.

George is right, in most cases this will work fine if your volume pedal has a high impedance output to match the high impedance input of the Roland. As I understand it, if you have an low/high impedance mismatch you will likely be able to tell it with some high frequency loss. In that case, the circuit described above would help. I originally made this box to input a two channel (stereo) signal and output a single channel to a PA System. Works just as well in reverse!

Thanks guys for the reply. George my pedals (Hilton and Goodrih) both have been modded for a tuner application, therefore I'll be using either a "y" cable or a "y" adapter.

Pete I'm not sure of my pedals impedance.
