Mike Sweeney is one of the masters of his craft, a well known icon of Nashville's live music. I've followed much of his music closely and own a copy of his well written book. Now he is bringing his Boot Camp to us by means of Skye. I'm sure it will be a welcome option to us who do not have time or the availability of a one on one, on locations instructor. Thanks Mike for offering this, the only way I'd be able to study with you... Looking forward to my first session. Just curious what the learning points might be and if you will accept student learning point questions or problems as study points. Again thank you for doing this... I will be in touch.

Dick,

This will be handled like it is here at the house. Meaning, Every person is on a different level and need different things. So I will be handling each student's area they need and want to handle.
And by all means yes all questions are welcome and will be answered to the best of my ability.
Thanks.

It seems like this may be the best idea in a long time. Keep up the emails.

Mike , I have to compliment a player and student of yours named Chuck Sto , A couple of years ago I saw his band at a county fair and came back the next year and was amazed that his whole style changed absolutley for the better , I figured he must have found a genie in a bottle that knew something about steel, He did mention your name, seeing is believing... Chucks performance was mind blowing and he gave the credit to Mike. What a guy

Thanks Craig. I'm glad that I could help and that Chuck put the time in to improve his playing.

Wow the post above came as quite a surprise to me! Thanks for the complement and a big thank you to Mike. Yes, I would like to think that I learned quite a bit in my three days of boot camp with Mike Sweeney. After playing part time for 20 years, Mike listened to me for 5 minutes and showed me ways to immediately improve.
The rest of the three days was spent working on my technique and answering any question I had. I still review the video of our sessions and pick up something new every time. Using the videos to guide my practice and spending the time to actually do the practicing are the key.
I can't recommend Mike's boot camp enough and now with Skype there is even less of an excuse. I still know that I have a long way to go (even as a weekend warrior), but spending the time with Mike definitely got me going in the right direction.

Wanted to bump this to the top and tell everyone, I spoke to one of Mike students yesterday. He was raving about Mike remembering an obscure question he had mentioned in passing, about something he was having a problem with. The student had forgotten about it, but Mike remembered and cleared it all up. He said, "He is amazing. Eager to share and get you quickly on the right track, with anything your having problems with." Well, Mike I have many, but particulary, learning to increase my use of the BC pedals and E&F knee lever. Self taught, I find myself pretty lacking in those areas. I'm looking forward to having my first Skype Boot Camp session with you. Then taking that new learned info to the bandstand. I'll email you about a slot and what I'd like to get into.

Again, I appreciate all the kind words! I hope I am helpful to my students. I try to give them a better understanding of the instrument and to help them with any problems they may be having. The Skype version of the "Boot Camp" seems to be taking off. February is beginning to book up. I hope this will be a cost effective way for the folks who are interested to take lessons. All opinions are appreciated!
