I make no secret that I think Laney Hicks is a top singer and personal friend.....but this is about another lady singer who is not known here on the forum but she should be....has the most wonderful country voice....squeezes out every drop of every note....be it uptempo or a Blues ...like Nightlife....is a delight to watch on stage...puts every ounce of energy into each song she sings.
Yes she is also a friend of mine.
Her name is Della Bustamante...Has a CD out that is to die for....the musicians on it are great...dont know where it was recorded..but you can find Della serving beers at Sputnics in Hendersonville on Wednesday nights....ask her nice and she will jump on stage and do a couple of songs with Smileys band......also works a couple of other nights.....has same sort of job downtown too.
She makes you feel most welcome as she serves...she gave me a lot of cheek and I gave enough back for her to put me in a headlock and going to punch out my lights !!!!.....If you ever go and meet her...tell her you are a friend of mine and she will charge you double !!!!
Oh I almost forgot....Della also sings with either the Tenessee or the Nashville Opera....just forget which.....whata difference !!!!

Ck. Out Wild Rose's version of "Home Sweet Highway" from their "Breakin' New Ground" album from 1990. I believe it is the original. Incredible vocals and musicianship!! Della's version is good but I've been spoiled by the original.

I'll be very interested in getting my own copy of this----it just has to be worth a listen!

Wild Rose was a great band. I remember seeing them on a local chilli cookoff--some up and coming band by the name of Diamond Rio OPENED for them! Whatever became of those boys, anyway?

Wanda Vick I believe was the driving wheel but every one of those women were good on their particular instruments. If I recall the drummers of each band were married to one another? I have both CD's they produced; they seemed to fade from view a short time after that second release.

Anyway, Tony and Smiley----keep me updated on anything you find about Della. I'd really like to hear this for myself!

Well... I knew Smiley would come in on this and would help.....Yeh believe me....Della is the nicest and most vibrant person you would wish to meet...bounces around the tables serving the beer...makes everyone welcome and at home....just radiates energy and stuff when she is on stage.
If we get to the stage of an address to get her CD from her......Please tell her you saw it on the forum and that you are a friend of Smileys and mine...and ask her to sign it.........she is such a nice person and I am sure she would get a heck of a charge out of this.......
.....Thanks in advance....Tony

OK...a Few clues......normally waites tables at Sputnics in Hendersonville....gets up and sings with the band
Sings with the Nashville or Tennesee Opera.
She is a friend of mine but dont have her phone number..silly me....also is a friend of Smileys who does have her Cell phone number......maybe you could all call your local station and put out an APB on Della Bustamante and ask that they play a couple of tracks from her CD...maybe Night Life...or Texas Side Step

Well, NOW I'm really interested in this Ms Della Bustamante and her CD! I called the Sputnik club and was told Della usually works on Wednesday evenings from 5:30 on? I didn't get a chance to call last night so I'll keep trying.

Anyone who finds this woman needs to let her know there's some pent up possible sales for her here on the SGF!!

Hey J.W. !!!
We are on the right track......Smiley called us about 6 pm our time...I think that was 3AM Nashville time.....said Della hadnt gone to New Mexico yet.....has spoken to her....she has given him her email address to give to me....so I just this minute finished emailing her...asking where CD's can be bought....but Smiley also told me she was going to advrtise on EBAY.....so I now await a reply to my email and will post whatever I find out.
Thanks so much for taking the trouble to call the club about Della J.W. and for taking interest.....I am finding this project a lot of fun........and if we can help someone as good as this with their goal....well good on us !!

Doing a Google search for "della bustamante" I get a CD that is available on the Boothill label from CD Baby. The players include two fiddles, mandolin and steel guitar. I wonder if this is the same Ms Della Bustamante we're searching for ?
