Russ Wever - WOW!

Post by Chuck Thompson »

First thing... It is Russ' birthday Happy Birthday Russ and Happy Birthday to Tom Pickett Sr!

I play a six string classic country gig every thursday in Walford Ia with my buddy Dave Chockley on steel. Last night Russ Wever came out to the gig along with Tom Pickett Sr and Tom Pickett Jr.

We were honored to have Russ set in for a couple sets and he was just incredible. His tone and touch are so smooth and he plays so much so tastefully! He is also a great guy too!

Setting between Russ and Dave gave me a little taste of steel guitar heaven. Having the Pickett boys play was icing on the cake. :D

PS: If youre anywhere near the Qc area check Russ out at Circa 21 in Rock Island Il. Russ is in the play "Hank Williams: Lost Highway" http://www.circa21.com/shows.asp good show with Russ playing some beautilful non pedal steel

Yeah, Chuck. Sometimes events transpire that make a person remember why we do this.....Meeting & getting to play with such a player as Russ was a huge "kick in the pants"....lol. He's a true gentleman as well as being an amazing musician. The rest of you "cats" in the band "ain't no slouches" either... Great times!!! P.S. Happy Birthday Russ!!
