I just bought this guitar locally, and it has the shrunken tuner button condition, along with a tuner with a bent shaft. These are the individual open gear tuners similiar in look to the Waverlys.
Just looking and using the spec sheet it looks like the Waverly individual button head tuners are real close to originals.
Please offer feedback. I know many of you have been through this before. It will be appreciated.
I am also looking for a replacement volume knob (I know, good luck there).
regards,
Lefty

I've been told those 'prewar' tuners were actual Waverlys - the original. They aren't stamped . I think you will have to get a round file and ever so slightly enlarge the shaft hole to use the stewmac tuners.
I will warn you that Bakelite is not like wood - don't use any wood screws with the new tuners....

Jerome and Gary,
Thanks for the information. I have been looking at the Stewart-Mac site since they have detailed spec. sheets. I did notice that the shaft diameters are larger than the ones on the originals.
Thanks for the suggestion about the round file.
I worried about using a drill bit. I believe the Waverly's are the way to go, even though they are pricey. They also look closest to original, and look like the best quality.
I am going to the Antique radio show here in Feb. and can hopefully at least find some knobs that look period. I will keep my eyes out for an original though.
regards,
Lefty
