I'm visiting family in Carmichael, CA this weekend, any of you steelers playing somewhere groovy? Looking for good old honky tonk music versus top 40 stuff, but most anything will do as long as there's a crying steel guitar. Dance floor and gals in tight jeans a plus. ;->

Thanks!

Hi John,
I'll be playing in Reno during the time you'll be here.
I think Dave Zirbel is performing in the San Francisco area that weekend.
If you were going to be here the following weekend, I would have had a good place for you to come see me play not too far from the Sacramento area.
Have fun on your trip up here.
Lorilee says hi.

Hey John, unfortunately I'm playing Sacramento on Thursday, 4/6, but my long time friend Chris Ivey (great steeler) is playing with his band in nearby (20 min. north on Hy 5) Woodland. Their tele player is also a very long time friend, and a real blazer. Here's a link to his band's web site. Sorry to miss meeting you, looks like our band will be doing some LA venues later this spring/summer, I'll post on the forum.

Thanks for all the info, guys. So what club has the best atmosphere and best bands, even if you gentleman aren't personally performing there this weekend? Appreciate your recommendations.

I'll try to catch Chris Ivey on June 27 here in LA, he's playing in Chatsworth with Vikki Lee.

Mark Friedland, a big shout to your lovely better half! How y'all doing? How far is Reno from Sacto?

Most of the clubs in Sacramento have so many different bands each night, it's hard for me to recommend one. Reno is about 2.5 hours if the weather is good, but we've been having really a lot of snow storms on hiways 50 and 80. Tell Chris I said Hi, and have a great trip.

Sadly, didn't hit ANY c/w clubs while in the Sacto area, got pretty busy with family. But I did enjoy the Open House at the California Maritime Academy where my son begins studies in the fall, great school, gorgeous location. Thanks, everyone, for ideas and input.
