I am new to Pro Tools.
I have recorded a song with all instruments on separate tracks.
I have now decided that I want to begin the song with a solo guitar intro.
So,,, I need to slide all the tracks forward while keeping them in sync in order to make room for the solo guitar intro.
Anyone know how to slide multiple tracks keeping them in sync? |

Hi Sid,
This is easy as can be.
I run Protools 8 but it should still be the same.
In the far left window of your edit screen are two panels. The top is called "Tracks" and the bottom is called "Groups".
Simply click on the groups called "All", and then use your grabber and click on any track and drag it to were you want. All the tracks will be selected when you click on any one of them and will all move at the same time.
When your done just click on the "All" groups again to deselect all the tracks.
If by chance you don't see these panels on the left side of your screen, go all the way to the bottom left corner and you will see a small arrow pointing to the left. Just click on that and it will unhide your tracks panel.

There are many ways to skin a cat in pro tools. You can also select all the tracks you would like to move with the cursor and type the keys "option", "command" and "G" and it will group them all as one big chunk - then you can slide them all together as one big "unit". When finished click on the group and type "option", "command" "U" to ungroup the files. If this doesn't work for some reason drop me a private message and I'd be happy to help you out.

Ian, thanks to you as well. I will keep both of your notes in case I need to re visit this issue again.
This Pro Tools thing is a lot of stuff to remember since I just started learning the program.

Don't forget that if you are using a click. Make sure you are set to grid and not slip when you move the tracks...
