Fender Satalite speaker with power amp and digital effects, no preamp and must be used with an amp that has return & send jacks. The speaker faces sidways and you can get a huge stereo effect. Fairly light and cab is a bit deep. Don't know what year but an interesting unit for sure.Anyone seen or used one of these?

Hi Les,
I designed the Satellite SFX back in 1997 as part of the SFX series. There was also an acoustic version and a keyboard version, but those 2 came with preamps.
The SFX concept was patented by Groove Tubes, who licenced it to Fender. (Groove Tubes was not part of Fender at the time).
It basically performs with speakers an output equivalent to a common stereo micing technique. For a mono guitar in, stereo effects are required to result in the stereo effect. This was one of the first applications of DSP on a Fender product.
The Vibratone is my favorite effect on the Satellite SFX.
I recalled freaking out a bandmate with this product; he thought a helicoptor was landing nearby during a gig.
Best Regards,

Hi Sam:
Thanks for the info on this unique piece of gear. Great to know you had insight in this creation.
Don't use it much but picked it up for low money several years ago because it looked so cool. You can put a small amp on top with send & return jacks and it make a huge sound. Fun and I'm glad I put wheels on it to move it around.

OK....after having this unit tucked away for several years I finally figured the correct way of getting the most effective sound out of it. Put any amp, even small amp with send out to the the preamp in of the SFX Fender. The speaker faces sidways as the grills are on the side of the unit. What a HUGE sound. This goes on my fender side of the studio for sure.
Better late than never!

The more I use this fender Sattalite amp the more interesting it is and the effects are very nice for something DSP that was made in 1995.
I bought it real inexpesive because the guy that had it could not get it to work right and niether could I until this week. Very nice!
