Hi B0b, i got it two years ago, as a background music of a french country band home page website, I don't remember which.
I was struck and I recorded it by Audacity. I love the melody and the care with which it is interpreted.
Now I wish to learn it and add it to my repertoire.

...my first thought was that it reminds me of a song by Philippe Solal who had a project called :"The Moonshine Sessions" and it had Bucky Baxter on pedal steel.

I could be terribly wrong but this is just my first thought, beautiful piece though.

Gorgeous arrangement and melody. Sounds a lot like Lloyd Green.

I recall that Jeff Newman and Mike Auldridge did an album probably way back in the 70's. This may be one of the songs included thereon??
My wild guess?

I@Barry I tried running Shazam on it and it said it was When The Wind Blows by ... Iron Maiden Whoa!

I have previously found Shazam to be very reliable to the point where it seems like magic to me. Usually if it doesn't recognise the song/tune it will say so, I've never had it deliver wrong results.

Chris is correct...it is Iron Maiden. The correct song title is "When The Wild Wind Blows". It is on YouTube here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eHg9PJc1Nds. I do not know who the steel player is....Gary Carter maybe.

I fail to hear any thing resembling a pedal steel in this song...
It sounds more like a free for all in the jungle somewhere..that's my two pennies...

There are two licks in the tune that are used by Lloyd Green ( first ) & (second) by David Hartley --- never heard any one else use them --

I stumbled onto this song in SoundCloud and now I've seen this thread. What an absolutely delightful song. I hear so many wonderful things and flavorings in this song that are so familiar. But, if I were to make a guess on who it is, it puts me in mind of Jean Yves Lozach from France. Smile

I got it!Very Happy I remind that I found this song in a website of a french country singer. After visiting many french country music websites I discovered that it is a piece of Alan Nash's CD http://www.nash83.com/.
The title is "no heroes left in town" and the author is Alan Nash himself. He recorded it in 2008 at the Tommy Detamore's studio in Floresville, (before it burned). The steeler who plays is Ricky Davis.
Fun, Alain Pioz (alias Alan Nash) lives 20 miles from home, in the south of France! The world is really small! Many thanks for your help and all your posts! Cool
THank You B0b, you are a great man!

What I can tell you is that I'd bet that it's a cover of a 70's or 80's song done on steel. If it's not, it's a very close copy of one...I know the melody.. I just cannot place it... I will see what I can dig up...
