Any thoughts on how to make the change from the 1 chord at the fifth position to the 6 minor using BC to AB change within the span of one beat? Lighting fast ankle is not an option. |

Aside from the fast-foot move, you can:
--move down to 3rd fret, E lever (Lower E's)
--change grip (at 5th fret) from 543 to 531
--add a lever raising 4th string E-F#

It is mostly a matter of building muscle memory and practicing the change over and over and over........etc.
Besides, you didn't say if the beat was at 50bpm or 140bpm
You can also get 2 notes of the minor by staying on the AB pedals.

I've found that I have no problem pivoting my foot just enough to cover all three pedals, then working the mid part of my foot on or off just the C pedal. It didn't come naturally at first, but now feels as comfortable as any of the other moves. It does come in quite handy, and would seem to do the trick here quite handily as well. |

If you want the sound of string 4 making the whole step change, you can just play strings 4 & 5, slide up 2 frets while releasing the A pedal. Stay off string 3 & 6 at that point or it will sound, well, BAD. I do this often.
-OR-
Stay at the fret with the A & B pedals and grab string 1 (or 7) along with strings 5 & 6. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . I use b0b's & Paul Brainard's tip of making my LVL raise 4 and 8 from E to F# - that gives you a really nice flow from open to AB to AB+LVL and back again, both for chords and melody...and it adds the 8th string to the change (BC has no 8th string, usually). _________________ https://www.lostsailorspdx.com

If you want the triads in proper order, pedal AB down and grab strings 6,5,4, leave AB down and grab 7,6,5 for the relative minor. Three consecutive strings should be an easy, fast change. |

I had the E to F# on LKV for years. Another option: if you have the G# lower to G, use it (2 frets higher) instead of B+C. _________________ -𝕓𝕆𝕓- (admin) - Robert P. Lee - Recordings - Breathe - D6th - Video |
