That's a pretty expert job you did there--meticulous. You really know what you're doing. I would have loved to have seen a redesign of the fretboard.

Nice job, Joel. My son does stuff like that, he didn't get it from me that's for sure. I admire anyone who can turn out something like that. (I agree with Mike, though...now do the fretboard)

Thanks! I kinda liked the fretboard, so I kept it. It's very easy to see in the dimly lit clubs while playing. Does your son have a website for his paintwork? I'd love to check it out. Mine is
www.fullblownpaint.com Cheers!

He doesn't have a website, but he builds one off hotrods in his garage. I'll dig up some photos. He recently chopped the roof off of a DeSoto, against my recommendation, but it's turnin' out nice lol

Thats awesome! Man, that came out really good. I like that gold leaf type stuff you applied that gives it depth.

Wow! Man, I know some Rock-a-billy guys that would go nuts over that! I'll bet it really shines and flashes on stage. Maybe a bit much for my style, that's why I'm going the other direction on my make-over. One thing I don't like about the Power Slide is that inside horn gets in the way of my left arm when I'm sitting. So the first thing I did was cut that thing off totally. It still works well for standing up that way.
I noticed you didn't take it down to the bare wood and I'm curious what you used as a base coat over the original finish?

No, I sanded it with 600 grit sandpaper and used Bulldog adhesion promotor. Mainly for the paint to stick to the plastic pick guard. And I agree the horn shape on the body is annoying. That's why I got some industrial strength velco and a rigid stand from Home Depot and play mine standing up. Now the horn is no problem. Here's a video of me playing it with the stand. Cheers!!!
