Actually I will probably spend more time on the Forum, as I will be a bit bored at times!
There are several reasons I wanted to retire from the repair side. One is my vision is just not what it used to be and I get a lot of eye strain when working all day on amps. I also want a bit more freedom to travel, play music, etc. Also I am looking at age 62 retirement in 2012 with Social Security. They limit income. Of course I have yet to exceed the limits they set in the past. In fact last year was the first year I actually showed a profit in the business. It took a few years to overcome all the initial investment and get business built up.
I also plan to keep up chip kit sales as well. As on the past I will answer tech questions as I can on the Forum. I have a policy of not taking phone calls or emails for tech support. Phone calls and emails equate to a lot of time I do not have. Also folks like to call late at night, when it is convenient for them. I decided a while back only to take business calls 5 days a week and during business hours only. That works very well and respects my family's time with me.
I just want to slow it down a bit and enjoy life as best I can. Still I will do my best to help with what little I really know here on the Forum.
As in the past I will not tell people what amp to buy, what are the best effects, what speakers sound like (an impossible task, as we all hear differently) and to buy only NOS tubes and such. I consider most of that people's own opinions, hard to support with facts or documentation. I like to stay away from such arguments, as there are a lot of good choices to be made and no single one is the best for all of us!
Again, I appreciate the support the Forum members have bestowed upon Fox Vintage Amps over the past years.
Also I am sorry to rant on so, but I just wanted to let you know I will still be around. You can't get rid of me that easy
