Amber Digby - Tryin' To Keep Real Country Music Alive

Posted: 24 Dec 2012 1:10 pm

She's just trying to be country, folks!...She loves and respects country music's past...and doing her part in trying to help keep the music alive, not only by recording songs in a certain style...but trying to write NEW music that is still REAL country...keeping the music fresh...and trying to promote growth. Hey...I know I'm a little biased...but I think she's done one hell of job doing JUST THAT...with her new cd.

Just ordered mine. I just love Amber (and for goodness sake, she isn't wearing shoes - love it). One of the best that country music has to offer. And the lineup of PSG players is way over the top.

Probably a stupid question Randy, but did you also play on the album. I also love your guitar playing.

Graham, thanks for the link. I know that good, real country is still recorded but I wish it would come back in vogue. I would love to hear it on mainstream radio, back into the clubs, and back on peoples minds. Wish an audience would return.

hey y'all...just an update...this is from amber's facebook page, which was posted earlier today:

"To all those who pre-ordered my newest CD:

You should be getting them in a day or two...international folks...a little longer, obviously...the release date was jan 15th...so the order you placed before jan 15th was a "pre-order"...I was on the Heart of Texas Records cruise on the 15th...which is when I received my box of CDs from the label...I came home from the cruise on Sunday, the 20th...and started stuffing cd mailers with cds...Monday was a holiday, so the Post Office was closed...they went out in yesterday's mail...which is the soonest I could possibly get them out...thanks for your patience...and for supporting my music...I hope you will all enjoy it!... :)"

and I echo what amber said...thanks for supporting our music...it means more than you'll ever know...

I'm glad not everyone feels the way Blake Shelton does!

Received my CD today....outstanding. Great mix of shuffles/honkytonk selections, with smooth ballads also. And tons of steel :D
Who says the older folks don't buy CD's...every TX artist still keeping it traditional/dancehall gets my $$...and there's more than many think there are.
An unfortunate well kept secret..

Randy is sure trying with Amber's music.

All it takes is more people buying than listening..

Randy, you sound great on there as does Amber.

Thank you for posting the steel players for each track. I've been trying to guess. I was pretty close, but I incorrectly assumed Lloyd played on How Can I Unlove You, because he played on some of Lynn Anderson's recordings.

thanks, ron...and thanks everyone!...we're proud of this one, for many reasons...amber and i LOVE steel guitar, obviously...and can't imagine her music without it being a major part...

incidentally, someone actually sent an email...stating his opinion that the new cd is not as heavy with steel as with her previous cds...and suggested that she was possibly trying to appeal to a "bigger" audience...

i got a good chuckle out of it, anyway... ;)

It's a bit subjective...

I have several of Amber's CDs, including this new one, and I can tell you that with each and every album there is a hard edged country steel guitar up in the mix-- really on almost every song. And there are not too many mainstream, commercial albums--you know, by those "sellout" artists-- that feature a steel guitar instrumental track.

She may in fact be trying to broaden her appeal, but doesn't seem to be changing her musical and vocal style much to do so.

of course she wants to broaden her appeal and have her music known to more folks...but not at the expense of changing who she is...as a person or musically...i live with the gal...so i have a little insight...well...maybe... ;)

Got mine yesterday. Listening to it for the first time right now (actually the 2nd. I am going through it again, it's so good).

This is first class stuff guys (and gals).

EDIT: Track #4, "She'd Already Won Your Heart" with Lloyd Green is just awesome. Great words, great steel guitar, great harmonies, and of course Amber's great voice. This song makes my hair stand up.
