Topic: Sierra Neck design |

A ways back a gentleman was telling me about some of the unique features that Sierra guitars have. One of the things he had mentioned was something about the neck being designed so that it looks level the whole way down the neck, Or something along those lines. Has anybody ever heard such a thing or know what Im trying to get at? Thanks

fwiw, I have never heard this specific description of a Sierra neck, although, The Crown series has a slope to the neck, whereby the neck was close to the strings up to about the 15th fret or so, then started sloping downwards toward the pickup.
I actually wish they kept that style for the Session Series. It seemed like it reduced Paralax error. |

Really Pete? I had 2 Crown '25's', even pin-striped the neck on one of them and never noticed that slope, but I defer to you.  |

After Inspecting my Sierra Olympic, it too has the slope you mentioned. Very cool. What is a paralax error

Visualizing Paralax error on PSG:
With your head at about the 15th fret or so (typical playing position), look to your left and place your bar directly over fret 1.
Now, without moving the bar, move your head so you are now looking straight down at the bar over the fret.
It is no longer over the fret as it appeared when your head was in it's original position.
fwiw, I often see PF looking almost straight down at the bar when he plays. |

Parralax, that explain's it! I knew there was something different, but i thought it was just me. I have always had a bit of trouble with intonation above the 12th fret on my GFI and not on my Sierra.
