For the wonderful review you wrote in the PSGA Newsletter. We all know Howard R and love the way he lights this Forum with his sense of humor and wit.He has often made my day from sadness to that of joy.
There is however a serious and eleoquent side
of our friend Howard and his writings can be seen in the recent issue of the Norwalk PSGA show that took place on November 12th and 13th held at the Doubletree Hotel in Norwalk Connecticut. Howard outdid himself this time by giving credit to the great steel players who attended those two days and to the staff of officers of the PSGA. Bob Maickle, John DeMaille and Jeff DiMaio and his GREAT western
swing band. Nick Sr. Nick Jr. Fooch Fischetti
Scott Tyler.
The Great house band of Bruce Chappel, Larry Eagle, and the great guitarist Van Manakas.
Fooch Fischetti. These musicians cant be beat
It was my special treat to have played the Fender special made guitar on this special day. The only guitar that Fender ever custom made for the one and only Late and Great Jerry Byrd.
Thank you Howard for all you have done for this Forum and for the Steel Guitar Community. A Special Thanks to a special friend and one of wisdom and class. our own Mike Gross MC and head ranch boss at
www.swinginwest.com Thank each and every one of you from all of us who attended and performed at this wonderful show. I hope to see all of you Next Year. PS Howard you have done every one of us proud and for all the players and people responsible for this great show, I thank you on their behalf. If I have left anyone out I am truly sorry. Please forgive me.[This message was edited by Jody Carver on 05 March 2006 at 07:51 AM.] |

I appreciate Howard taking the time to show me the Fender. Seeing that guitar and meeting Jody made the drive all worth it.

Youse all are welcome. I had a great time at the PSGA show and writing about it was a pleasure. I'm also very happy with how the review layed out in the newsletter.
It's easy to write about the performers when they all have great a diversity of talent. It's organizing the thoughts, trying to make it interesing and not redundant that is the kicker.
Bob Maickel is very helpful to me as he smooths out some of my rough areas, adds info where it is needed, corrects any incorrect information that I inadvertinly write, and keeps the continuity.
All & all, it's a team effort and I'm proud it be a part of it.[This message was edited by HowardR on 05 March 2006 at 07:11 AM.] |

Jody,
You are so right! I sent Howard an e-mail the other day with a cc to Bob Maickel on the fantastic write-up. I should have done as you so perfectly did;, put it up here on the Forum! A great article Howard; something you and the PSGA should be proud of. Thanks for your kind words about me and for all that deserved it. Jody, thanks for your kind words about me above and the plug for "Swingin' West."

Jody-Thank you for the post about HowardR. Well deserved.
I read that review of his in the PSGA of which I hve been a member for over 30 years.
It was one of the finest I ever read on the Annual show. He made it very interesting all the way.
Gave a lot of info for us unfortunate enough not to be there in person.
Thanks HowardR, and again thanks Jody for posting.....al
