I happened to see this on Ebay and was curious if anyone here played something that short?

Ron,
Never saw one of those. However I started on a Teisco which had a 19" scale.
I still have one of the same model. It plays OK but does not have much sustain above the 12th fret.

Some years ago I discovered the ukulele as a slide instrument. Now I play 14" scale instruments bottleneck style and lap steel style.
Here are some recordings (tape recorder, low-fi-microphone, cheap chinese soprano ukuele):

Looks like they took an Ashbory bass, swapped out the tuners (adding two more), added a nut riser, a new bridge, and a humbucker pickup. An interesting idea. Is that wire hanging off the side the output from the pickup?
