http://soundcloud.com/zumdale/what-afriend I have been playing for quite a few years now. I think I don't play very well. I still really love trying. I just got an ADAT recorder and I am trying to learn to use it. the soundcloud recording is my first attempt.

Sounds really good to me. I've been playing that song lately, one of my favorites, and well, I sure wish I could play it like that! Got some good ideas from your version here.

Thank you all for the nice comments. Intonation and getting carried away (Over playing) is what I hear after listening to the recording again. Recording your self is a good thing if you can be honest with your self and learn. Some times it's what you don't play that's more important than what you did play. Dale

Dale,
All I can say as a new player is that your recording shows all of the qualities I am trying to develop as a player. Well done.

Aaron, Thanks for your comment. The truth is I have been trying to play for quite a few years. I should be a better player than I am given the number of years, but with work and raising a family (excuse!) Any way, It's been a great hobby and at turning 60 yrs old next week, I hope I can continue to play for a long time and have fun, God willing! Dale

Joe, Thank you. I,m glad you are still playing steel. I responded to one of your posts a while back. I have had two friends that played steel that had lost their sight. Don't let any one tell you that you can't do it! Dale

Something that I don't understand has happend. I got an email from Fred Justice my sound cloud recording showed up on his facebook as him doing the playing. I can understand why he would not want any one to think my playing was him. I have no Idea how this could happen except that some mean spirited person thought it might be funny and was able to do this. Below is our email comments. Howdy, I don't know if i know who you are by your name (zumdale)
but I see you have posted a song on my FB page.
It plays but no audio,
where was this recorded? and how can I hear it?
Can you email me a mp3 of it to
fredsmusic@q.com
Thanks,

Hello Fred I did post a song on sound cloud. I have no idea why it went to your FB page. To tell the truth I'm not overly proud of it and might regret posting it on sound cloud, I do play for a hobby and a member of the forum. I read your posts and know that you build a fine guitar. I better learn more about what I am doing when I start posting things on the internet. My name is Dale Hampton and I hope this didn't go to a gillion other people that I didn't expect it to. Dale

Dale,
Are you friends with Fred on FaceBook? SoundCloud does link up with FaceBook if you so choose to do so. I use both myself and my SoundCloud posting will post onto my FaceBook page and will also let my friends know that I have posted a new song etc. on their page when I do so...
