I've had this for quite a while, and still don't exactly know what to make of it. Looks like a Rickenbacker double 6 console, with pedals added. They're on the bridge side/right foot. It's clearly not factory, but does this work look familiar to anyone? Also....I'm a steel neophyte. Can anyone suggest a tuning, for 6 strings, that'll get me into Western territory?

It is about a '56 Rickenbacker for sure - I had a Double 8 I got that year.
It is a shame some one put those pedals and tore it up so badly. It was definately a home conversion.

It's "sort of" a shame. One neck has no alterations, and the two necks sound the same, so I don't think it really lost any functionality in the butcher job. It doesn't really return to pitch well unless I kick the pedals. For what I paid, I'm happy with it. I LOVE those horseshoe pickups. The dimes? Well...that was me....I didn't have washers that would do the job, so I improvised. |
