Topic: My DD3 won't turn on |

I heard some crackling noise thru the amp and the light went out on my DD3. The power supply is fine and I put a new battery in and nothing. Anyone have an idea?

There are a ton of things it could be , but most likely it's the little diode that acts like a fuse on the power supply board.

Have you tried a little wine and gentle stroking 
Seriously, about the only thing you can check is the switch and wiring. You can raise up the treadle to see the small tactile switch underneath it. It's cheap and easy to replace IF it's bad.
Short of removing the bottom and looking for obvious broken wires or traces, there's not much the user can do. Time for a trip to a Boss tech. |

I sent a DD3 in to Boss several years ago and they sent it back to me telling me it would cost more to repair than to replace. Same thing happened with my Korg WT12 tuner. I discussed the tuner with a guy at Radio Shack and told him some traces were burned. He told me to use very small wire and solder across the traces. I did so and after at least 15 years it still works. Korg could have easily fixed it but refused as Boss did with my pedal which I did throw away.

Jerry the company's you sent your unit's to will not fix them unless it's repace a component,,the radio shack guy knew the 'afro' rig trick..i have run into the same problem's too,,but a small piece of wire & solder & you can by pass a burned out spot ..work's for me !!  |
