Hello, fellow Houston (and surrounding area) steelers. Just a short note to let you know that our band, The Christopher Wilson Group, will be doing a "semi-unplugged" show at the Vintage Bar this Friday night, 2/6, at 8:45 P.M. We'll be performing the entire soundtrack for local director Jeff Faulkinbury's film, "Read On". There's no cover charge. The Vintage Bar is a nice, cozy little upscale wine bar with a great atmosphere, tasty cheese and sausage plates, and it's the perfect place to take your girlfriends, wives, husbands, significant others, etc. It's located at 4356 Westheimer (at Mid Lane) just inside Loop 610. If you need directions, call them at 713-355-3093 or use MapQuest. It's pretty easy to get there.
This is a rare opportunity for you all to see what's being done with the pedal steel in genres outside those of the traditional C&W, Swing, and Americana. Our "normal" club dates are rather loud and a quite a bit rockin', so this show is one of those that's been "turned down and tempered" to fit the venue. Christopher Wilson is an excellent singer/songwriter who writes well-structured and catchy pop songs. He'll start the set with some solo acoustic tunes for about 30-45 minutes, and then the full band will go on with him between 9:30 and 10:00 P.M.
I've met only a few of you, but I've seen lots of unfamiliar names on the Forum that are here in town and I'd love to meet you. I hope you're able to come. If you do, please introduce yourself to me after the show. If you're concerned about volume, I will have brought plenty of earplugs!
Hope to see you there!
