Id like to hear opinions about the stereo steel that
G D Walker is making.
I have a Fender steel king wich im not satisfied with the sound an the settings. so im probably gona sell and then probably go for a GD Walker stereo steel + a reverb unit, and make my own speaker cabs.
So tell me the experience of the Walker stereo steel amp.
OR...... am i making a mistake for changing the FSK for a GD Walker

You might want to do a search here on the Walker stuff. Many players really like it. Me too. I think the model was the old Session 400 tone if you're familiar with that amp.
This system has tons of features and very versatile. The one I had sounded terrific for steel. So why don't I still have it? Well, I need a 2 channel amp for steel and widely varied tones for other stringed instruments also so that's what I went for.
If I were only playing steel guitar, I'd still have the Walker Stereo Steel. Gerry's a nice fellow and a fine steel player too. I built a pair of compact cabs with BW 1501's that sounded good, but G.D.'s cabinets sound great also with either JBL's or BW's. Another thought is 2 12's or 1 12 and 1 15 the latter option being my choice.
Of course there are other options now like the new Sica or Eminence neo models. |

I have 2, hard to beat. 300 watts a side, lots of EQ options.

I've played thru steel king's, and I have a Peavey N-112 & a Walker and I usually go back to the walker, it's versatile as all get-out,

| Several months ago I bought a new Stero Steel setup from GD. I told him I would get on the forum and tell everyone how great it was and forgot to do so... so here I am. I'm a pretty new player and went through several amps and steel's trying to find something that sounded like a steel guitar. For me, it was the Stereo Steel that did it. Now all three of my guitars sound good. I recomend the entire package. GD set it up, tested it and shipped it to me ready to play and it sounded great. Plenty of volume too with clarity and punch. (I play in a pretty loud band). Can't say enough about the customer service. We talked and emailed several times while I was trying to make up my mind and a few times afer the purchase. Great guy to deal with. |

Im not in a hurry but when the time is right ill go on with a GD Walker.
thanks for your honest opinions wich helped me out on this knowledge.

Janl , I'd recommend getting the TC Electronics M One XL with the Stereo Steel.GD loads it with some good programs. He will sell it to you at a price as good as you will find anywhere. I already had speaker cabs that I loaded with JBL D130 speakers. GD offers the package at a very good price which includes cabinets loaded with your choice of speakers.

I have one, Gerry has updated the effects processor from the DigiTech Studio Quad 4 to the TC electronics M one XL. The M one XL, I am told is more user friendly. Mine had the Quad 4. I put an Alesi Quadraverb, to it. After my Quad 4 died. But Gerry has a GREAT product. And he can help you if you encounter any problems with it.

| it looks like you've made up your mind, but i have to chime in. FANTASTIC AMP! FANTASTIC CUSTOMER SERVICE! Gerry is a great guy to deal with and builds an above average amp. i would recommend an m1xl as well. tons of pre-loaded settings. |

I always got great tone from my vintage Webb amp. But my pretty new SS amp/preamp combo really gives me a stronger, better defined low end, which is important on my extended E9 (and great for C6, too, of course). Even my wife says it sounds bigger, fuller.
