Even Dr. Dre was confused. Its a Bob Marley thing, apparently. La la la? Prince was not his real name either, before he changed it to a symbol. Heck even Mellencamp changed his last name to Cougar once (although he didn't really want to and changed it back, but it stuck as his middle name haha).

What is new country music? Its umm..."Hip Hop in a Honky Tonk" these days. Big and Rich, Cowboy Troy (conveniently promoted on Dancin With The Stars Country Night), or Colt Ford, Jason Aldean, etc.? Kid Rock and these guys are all rappers too from song to song. The demographic is young people generally, so if you're older like me, you might not care very much for any of it.

The CMA are geared toward a young audience, and therein lies the rub: its new country now, which contains elements of rap (and rock) music. Personally, I've never watched the awards, but I do love to peruse the bonfire here afterwards!

I don't have anything against Rock music in fact I like the real stuff...Not CRock..Nashville should be ashamed to host it and call it Country..What gave Nashville the name and the reputation the forgotten stars of the past for being the Country Meca has been invaded by the North and captured again...Country may never be the same ,but niether will Nashville.. CMA NO, just noise and glitter but nowadays you can sell crap if you package it right..Goodbye Country ,we knew you when..

I was offended by the fact that the recipients of induction to the Hall of Fame, especially an icon like Connie Smith who was recognized from her seat! They should have called her on stage and made the presentation and maybe even had her sing "Once a Day" instead of Carrie Underwood. And Garth Brooks in the "hall" and not Wynn Stewart, something wrong there..........JH in Va.

Can't expect Connie or Wynn to be reconized. They both were great singers and could sing on key.
Won't name her but one female singer who wins so many awards and sells millions of records sings so flat it is embarrassing to any one who isn't tone deaf. Tracy

I didn't watch the CMA awards--haven't for many years now. Not interested in awards generally, even less when the field of endeavor doesn't interest me. I'd have taken at least some interest when "country" music was stuff I liked.

Don't "Hall of Fame" awards relate to "success" and/or "influence", thus, in the music "industry", contribution to sales/profits and/or opening/widening of markets? How much money did Wynn's efforts put into music moguls' coffers, vs. Garth?

Makes sense that Garth gets the award. Alas.

(Not that I hate Garth as much as so many here apparently do. There's so much that's come out since, and is happening now, that's far, far crappier than anything Garth ever did that he looks "real country" by comparison.)

I remember in the mid 50's growing up in Ohio we heard Wynn so he was nation wide, not just hot out here. Also, if it weren't for Wynn we might not have heard of the Moon. Yes, he was an influence. Money wise it's a lot whole different between then and now.

Talking about girl singers doing Crazy.If only I had a buck for each time I have seen a chick singer get on the bandstand[usually prompted by a husband or boyfriend ]and wants to sing Crazy,You ask her what key she sings it in,She does'nt have a clue what the hell you are talking about,The guitar player wastes the next ten minutes strumming chords trying to find her key.They decide her key is C sharp.
