Hi guys,
I am going to switch from a combo amp to a rack system, and I am evaluating to build two speaker cabinets.
I have been reading a lot abut the subject and got even more confused about the "best" speaker (brand, model, size)! LOL
Any suggestions?
I will probably use two Jensen NEO 4 ohms (I already own one).
Another doubt: which impedence? My power amp says "4 ohms and up...", so I know it will handle nearly anything but... how to choose and why?
And yet, just wondering: I have never read about Celestion speakers with pedal steel guitar. Is it there a reason? I have been playing, occasionally with a 2x12" cab with two Celestion V30's and they weren't bad at all!!!

The speaker ohms rating is important. The amp should be rated for whatever power at the different ohms ratings. For example my GK MB200 is rated at full power (200 watts) at 4 ohms and at 1/2 power at 8 ohms. Thus, to have the full amplifier power available match the speaker ohms correctly.
As you are in Italy, consider the Italian made Sica speakers. The Neodymium models have been well received here, both the 12" and 15" models. |

I would take that to mean the amplifier would not want you to use LESS than 4 ohms total.
If you use another 4 ohm Jensen Neo 4 ohm wired in parallel, your amp will "see" a total of 2 Ohms which may not be very good for the amp.
On the other hand if you wire the 2 speakers in series, for a total of 8 ohms you music power will be cut in half, but it shouldn't hurt your amp.
I would suggest using two 8 ohm speakers in parallel to get the 4 ohms for better operation. |

Sorry, my quotation was not that complete and correct.
It says "4 Ohms (min) per channel".
That's why I thought to use two 4 ohms NEO's, one for each cabinet, to be plugged to the single channels of the power amp.
I do agree with Jack, I will call the factory and direct order the speaker I need. I did that before, nice people to deal with and a good price.
