Hi All!

I'm making my first trip to Nashville for unfortunately only 2 nights at the end of December (arrive 12/28, leave 12/30). Do you have any advice on any places to go to hear some good steel? I would absolutely love to hear The Players with Paul Franklin but can't find any info on any gigs around then.

Also, any other places I must go as a steel lover/player?

Thanks!
Kevin

Several places on lower Broadway. Most places has bands all afternoon and evening. Legends, Roberts, and others I don't know the names of. Mike Sweeney can be seen at some of them. and you neever know who else. good luck, Larry

The Time Jumpers would normally play at 3rd and Lindsley but they are not playing while you are there (next gig listed is January 7th).
There are a number of clubs along lower Broadway that will feature steel guitar. Just walk around and see what looks good to you.
Other things I'd recommend include a visit to Bobbe Seymour's Steel Guitar Nashville and Gruhn Guitars on Broadway.

You want have any problem finding steel players in Nashville.Broadway, music row ,is set up like a bunch of long skinny bars.Like old shoe stores.A lot of bands play in the plate glass fronts on them so you can walk down the street and see who is playing there.Of course there are othere places with regular shows as well. The Grand OL Oprey is just across the river. There is no telling who you might find playing.Any way you go Ill bet you have a great time.

Try to find Mike Sweeney.
Try to find Doug Jernigan.

You can usually find them on Broadway

When I was there last spring, I stopped in to Bobbe Seymore's and they steered me to Legend's on Broadway. I was blown away by Tom Killen playing with Galen Griffin.

You must hear Chris Scruggs, non pedal but he makes it sound like a pedal.
Just my opinion, but Chris is probably one of, if not the, the best modern day "stylist" today and transcends many "borders" typically put on the instrument.
I think he plays every Thursday night at Roberts, with a girl sanger (singer) that is stoned country .

You will not be dissapointed.
