Topic: Fender Mustang 3 noise |

I wanted to try a new amp for my Country Gentleman guitar and I purchased the Fender Mustang 3. I have
two Nashville 112s for the steel. This amp is just not clean. There is a hissing noise when I try to sustain the strings. There has been discussion about this on the Fender Forum and they call it a fizz sound. I have contacted a music store and will probably trade the amp but before I do, has anyone had experience with this or anyone with a suggestion.
I have removed all effects to try to get a clean sound but so far no success. I think the amp would work for anyone using distortion which I do not.

| From what I read about these it must be cold solder joints from the factory, some keep sending them back in exchange for another and find the same prob with it too, I think I woud steer clear of them till they fix the problem and who knows when that would be. |

Thanks for the responses. I traded the amp in on a
Peavey valve king a tube amp. If anything goes wrong with a Peavey I live only about 1 1/2 hours from Meridian and can take it over for service.

With all due respect, skimping on a $300 amp for a beautiful $2500 guitar is no way to go. Gretsch guitars love Fender tube amps. Do yourself a favor and step up to an original black or silver face Deluxe Reverb (and not the re-issue). Your guitar will thank you! |

| I play my Gretsch 6120 through an Evans AE100 with external JBL G125 speaker. I have had no problem getting the sound I had when I used a Twin Reverb w/JBL speakers. If I was in the market for a new amp, I would get the Evans RE200. There is a forum member who doesn't like Evans and has posted his dislikes on the forum. However, I recommend you try one. |
