Saw Loretta Lynn tonight, and it was a great show! Honestly though, the highlight of the night for me was the opening band!

Chuck Mead and the Grassy Knoll boys had a great sound. A big part of which was their steel/mando player, who after asking the name a few times: is Carco Clave.

Wow. What a unique style. His left hand writhes around like an electrified...something!

Seeing him followed up by Archer (who was top notch, and tightly controlled) was a really great way to see the extremes of playing styles.

The merch guy gave me a great deal on a jernigan/clave steel album ( I had 5 bucks in my pocket and a disbelieving stare) which I'm sure I'll be wearing out shortly.

This is the first steel player I've seen live who really made this instrument come alive for me. I was laughing out loud with the playfulness of his style.

Just wanted to share my excitement. If anybody can point me towards more of his recorded material, or share a bit about him, I would be grateful!

Carco is a real Pro. An outstanding player on many instruments.

Yeah, Carco is cool. He also sounds great on a custom keyless lap steel he had made. He plays guitar rather well too.

He's also an alumnus of Asleep at the Wheel, and will be playing Nov 10-11 at the PSGA show in Norwalk, Connecticut.

Carco is a top shelf musician and has a good humor about him also! He has done it all and done it good! He is a mainstay at the non-pedal show each year in Dallas. He is very much an under recognized player.

I must correct myself or he would put a pop knot on my head! He plays at the steel guitar sessioni in Dallas while others play at the pedal steel guitar session! Very Happy
