Yes its very nice! I really love the Speedy West tricks and the bass playing with fourth neck, make me want a Q8 but I think I will stay with my T8. I wounder why we dont ear more about Buddy Merrill.

I heard some of that Speedy West 'stuff' but failed to see anything like a "STUTTER BUTTON" in play.

I noticed only the bar slamming affect coupled with use of the tone control.........

Any guesses as to what tunings he was using?

I love the little whisper from the show's host just after Buddy begins to play. Judging by the weird smile that follows I guess it was an instruction to keep looking at the camera and smile at the folks at home.

Back then you had to keep inane eye contact with the viewers. These days we are bombarded with reality shows where I wish they'd just keep their faces off the screen.

I was asked before to do this and I promise I will get to this properly one day. As a taster, basically it is a combined 8 string steel and a guitar. I don't have a photo to hand but I can do better. Check out this wonderful museum site:

As you can see, it has a clip-on knee rest to allow the guitar to be played in a sitting position (catches terribly on knitwear!)

Framus, like most German manufacturers of that era, never really got the pick-ups right and although it has a warm tone which is nice for Hawaiian music but for the guitar side, which shares the pickup, lacks top end.

Obviously here in Germany, Framus steels are easily found on eBay but this is the only example of this model that I've seen. I paid about $200 for it.

So it's a forerunner or Junior Brown's guit-steel.

I believe Framus also made banjos, right?
