Hope this is ok b0b.... it was posted on Steel on the Web, but I thought more folks would see it here.
Tues night at 9 pm eastern, Dave Van Allen and myself will be discussing the west coast steel style, on the steel guitar chat room...
We will be demonstrating licks, talking about gear, changes, tones, anything relating to the subject.. We will attempt to answer any questions you may have about this popular style of playing pedal steel.
Set your guitar up and play along with us.
We will try and adjust the tempo of the discussion and demostrations to a level where players of ALL skill levels will be able to follow..
for more info, see the post in Steel on the Web,,,bob |

Bob - I did a quick Google for Steel on the Web. Can I get more information - web link maybe? Sounds like it's going to be an interesting chat. Thanks!

9pm Eastern Standard Time- 6pm Western Standard Time
(International listeners can do the math here)
it will indeed be WEST COAST TIME
I join Bob in inviting all players from Newbies to Advanced with an interest in the Bakersfield and SoCal Country Rock sounds to drop by. Whether you grew up with it or are interested from a "historical perspective" the "West Coast Style" of Pedal Steel Guitar has intrigued, influenced, and sometimes befuddled PSG players.
I expect we'll discuss the players that influenced our playing and what about their playing so appealed to us; putting the "Rock" into Country Rock while keeping the "Country"; equipment, amps, and with an emphasis on playing techniques, from the seemingly simple to the slightly less so ,that contribute to the effervescent bounce associated with players like Ralph Mooney & Tom Brumley that has come to be known as the West Coast PSG Sound; and Country Rock, from the "stream of consciousness" stylings of Rusty Young & Red Rhodes; the unique approaches of "Sneaky" Pete Kleinow, Buddy Cage and Al Perkins.

depending on your computer/browser you will likely be asked to download a browser plug in to allow you to access the chat room. It's actually easier to do than to describe

And.....i can think of no two other great players, and wonderful friends, then Dave, and Bob C to explain this. I will have Cass get it tuned in for me. These two fella's are both accomplished steel players, and wonderful people. I just know, it will be full of information ALL players can use.
