Well-not together-but what a great idea.
Texas music legend and extraordinary steeler Lloyd Maines will be accompanying Texas singer/songwriter Terri Hendrix at Studio E in Sebastopol on Friday, Nov. 11. I don't know much beyond that. If it is a duet only without a full band I would find it unlikely that Lloyd will bring a pedal steel. But he is a heckuva a dobro player, along with guitar-and the man can sing. so I would think that will be part of the equation.Unfortunately, due to a family commitment, I'm not going to this one and it bums me out-Terri is very good, but the reason I really wanted to go is to see Lloyd. They are also playing in the east bay in Pleasant Hill on Saturday evening at Victoria Crossings Clubhouse. Check out Terri's website:

Steel Guitar Hall of Famer Bobby Black is coming back to Sonoma this Saturday, Nov. 12 with western swing band Lost Weekend. These guys are great! Rumor has it that Bobby may be playing his new 12 string MSA SuperSlide, and since I plan on purchasing one in the next several months, I will take a special interest in watching and listening to this great player and consummate gentleman this time around. The place is Little Switzerland, and there will be dancing-they have a big dance floor. The show starts at 8 p.m. with a $7 cover charge. If you arrive between 5 and 7 and order an entree, then there is no cover. My wife and I are definitely there for this one!

Herman-check this out:

Studio E is a great little venue out in the country off 116-it will be a pretty easy shot for you from Rohnert Park, but check out that website because it isn't exactly easy to find in the dark.
Please tell me that it's true that Bobby is bringing the SuperSlide-I know that you talked to him awhile back.
Nothing wrong with that West Coast Steel non-pedal he played last time in Sonoma, but I know that both you and I are on the hunt for the MSA.

It would be great for you to join us, Dave.
I couldn't make it to the Mystic the other night-how was the Gram Parsons birthday celebration?
b0b-this is one of the problems with being good enough to get paid-you actually have to miss out on a lot of good stuff.
This is the least of my worries.
Dave-you seem to rarely have a night off-you must burn up a lot of miles in that truck getting to all the places you play.

Hi Mark. I was VERY pleased with the GP show. The crowd was enthusiastic and the bands sounded real good IMHO. I was done playing by 11:30 and only 20 minutes from home!
To answer your other question, the band I'm playing with now doesn't mind sharing rides and chipping in their share of gas money, and lately most of the out of town shows have provided rooms! Almost makes it worthwhile!
Hope to see you guys on Saturday.

Earlier this year I saw Lloyd Maines accompanying Texas singer/songwriter Terri Hendrix here in Kansas City (Mountain Music Shoppe). Lloyd did some great dobro work. No steel but the stage was too small for a steel anyway, plus traveling light by rental car. Room only held about 35 people, so up close and personal with a very comfortable sound level.
Talked to Lloyd and he just loves talking to other steel players and asking them about their guitars etc. |

Colm-you're killing me here! I'm a big dobro guy, and have been a fan of Lloyd for years. This is the show I have to miss.
It's my daughter's 17th birthday party and I have to drive a bunch of girls to the movie theater, etc.
...I've got to keeping working on this one and look for some light at the end of the tunnel.

Have fun at the show and tell Bob Black I said hello. The wife says we're going to her work party instead. Oh well, the food and wine will be good......and free!

Saw them in LA about a year ago. Same setup.
There were a couple of steel players there and Lloyd spent some time chatting after the show. Really nice guy.
