I have seen some pic's of Weldon playing a Sho-Bud and Hal Rugg Grand Ole Op pic's... Does anybody know when he went to 'Emmons' and what recordings he might have done on the 'Bud'.....I been listening hard to Mel Street and i'm hearing the Emmons Mojo on those recordings, late 70's.

Lloyd Green played a Sho-Bud on just about every Mel Street recording...his really early small label stuff had Pete Drake on it...also a Bud.

Wooow, That's a beautiful sound steve, for some reason i thought it was Weldon. I really like the sound of that Bud, and that 'darker sound' had me fooled one more time, especially on a song called 'Lust affair' and 'Lady in my bed'.... Great fills!

This snippet of information comes from Winnie Winstons 'Manual of Style'(1980). When he went to work for Bill Anderson - BA bought him a Sho-Bud. "Had it for about a year then bought an Emmons in 1964". Apparently he he got a better trade in from Emmons than Sho~Bud when he wanted a new guitar. Hope this helps.

My friend, Jimmy Peppers, was the Producer (and arranger) on Mel's last Album "The Town Where You Live". He told me he used Lloyd on that session (and on others he produced when he could get him).

Seems like Mike Johnson might have played on a few Mel things too...again,a ShoBud at that time...I met MJ in 78 or 79 and he was playing a Bud.

Thanks Geoff, That's a great thing to know, it seems like Weldon has always been an 'Emmons' man then...Hal Rugg seemed to play 'Sho-Bud' a lot more i think back then. And i was totally mistaken about Mel, i could have swore that sounded like Weldon's famed lick's, but research showed that's Lloyd's famed licks! I've become a bad guesser these days! Rolling Eyes

When did buddy leave 'Sho-Bud' then, if weldon was playing an 'Emmon's in 64?? How long was Shot and Buddy together?? I'm thinking about 8 years!

Tell me i'm wrong, but don't most top players play the brand that they are in 'Co Hoots' with Politically! Very Happy
