Got one of these recently. What a smooth slide. Great feel/weight; nice tone. It is a bullet. I'd like to get something like this but in a more Scheerhorn, Lap Dawg or Shubb SP3 shape. Does anyone know if such glass bars exist? The brass and glass combo on these Silica Sound bullets is really nice.

correct ... that is the one I rec'd ... I would like to see this same brass/glass combo in a non-bullet shape ...

I have a couple of his guitar slides, and they really are as hard as glass. He's got quite a following here. Great product, great price... hmmm. I just got paid...

I'd like to see a 1" thick version.
The Paloma no doubt has a much different sound/tone than the Silica.

True ... I am trying out the Paloma right now ... no doubt it is smooth but as you say, different in tone than the brass/glass Silica ... also, the Paloma is very light compared to any other bar I have ... for a few applications, that is fine, but for others it just doesn't seem to have enough weight to dig in ...

That is why I'd like to find something with the weight and tone of the Silica bullet but in the shape of the Scheerhorn/Lap Dawg/Shubb SP3 or SP1 ...

I'm a newby so what do I know, really ...

What you should know is that the bullet bar is the most useful bar, and those others will probably not allow you the flexability to get the most out of your guitar.

The Paloma seems really good for acoustic types of playing.

I just received my Silica Sound brass n glass bar. It just became my favorite bar. The sound is a little "smoother" than my other bars, and I appreciate the slightly longer length. It weighs in at 3.5 oz, compared to 4.5 oz for my Frank Ford/Gryphon Strings tapered bar and 5.0 for my Broz-o-phonic. The glass makes it easy to grip.

Anyhoo, for anyone looking for something new, I heartily recommend it.

I should probably ask them if/when they're going to get to the next size up, instead of just waiting for it.... That weight is slightly on the low end of where I can get some singing and howling out of them. But any retailer in their right mind is gonna start with a small inventory and see where it goes. Their glass slides look nice too, but they followed the same path as Jay at Paloma, basically copying Dunlop's glass lengths. There are slide things where you can use the tip to pick out arpeggios, and also play inside strings with both higher and lower ones available to ring, and it just has to be "medium" length. 58mm - 61mm, 2.25 - 2.375." (Jay has since been offering a medium length, gee I wonder...)
