Blue Jade: The Pedal Steel Project at Kickstarter

Post by Mark Reckard »

There's a new project at Kickstarter that, to me, looks very interesting.

Steel players like JayDee Maness, Buck Reid, Dan Dugmore and Roosevelt Collier are joining forces to pay tribute to the pedal steel. Guitar legends Duane Eddy and Albert Lee are also participating in this project. Steve Fishell is spearheading the project as producer.

Kickstarter allows you to pledge a "pre-order" of any amount to an artist's project, whether it be a book, a movie, an album, whatever. You aren't charged for your pledge until the project meets its funding goal - which in this case is $10,000.

It sounds like a cool project to me and I've decided to participate.

Now Randle Currie is going to do a song on it also. Well that's if they reach the $10,000 pledge goal. I hope so, I'm really looking forward to the project and I was the first pledge, so I hope everyone gets on board. If you pledge at least ten dollars you get a copy of the album, so it's more like your prepaying for a killer recording project.

Hey Charles! Thanks for the shout out... all is well here and I hope things are going well for you too.

Thanks to all of you for the show of support for this project. Here's hoping we get the funding needed to make this a reality.

Thank you very much to all who have made a pledge to this project.

There is more here than meets the eye.

Many artists and steel players are committed, but due to personal and professional reasons, their names cannot be announced at this time. Everyone is working for minimum scale or less. ALL profits will go to a very good place.

We still have a ways to go to reach our goal. Please consider making a pledge to this worthy project. Someday soon you'll be glad you did.

Sincerely and gratefully,

Steve

Fish,

Mel Bergman from Camarillo here. Ive know your brother since 1980. He sold me a Fender Reverb that I have used throughout my dubious surf music 'Career" . And I was in a Band w Mary for awhile!

Steel, Duane Eddy, Hatch? All in one place? I just pledged! Good work!

Just another $400+ left till it hits the goal.
I've followed a couple of these Kickstart projects and never seen one hit the goal, or get so close to it, so quick.
I think this is such a cool project, and I can't wait for it.

I just want to give a big thanks out to Steve for doing this.

This is such a fantastic project! Is there anything else that we as the steel guitar community can do to further it along?
